Once, while on a trip, my family and I stopped at a gas station. I had my car door open, and this little visitor landed on the door handle. It stayed there in the sun long enough for me to take a picture.
This butterfly is a miracle. My daughter is a miracle, the fact that I am alive today is a miracle. There are so many small and large miracles that I miss in my rush to go to the post office, the grocery store, the school, the whatever-is-going-on-tonights.
When my daughter was two years old, she thought everything was beautiful and exciting. “Mom! Look at that flower/butterfly/leaf/rock!” If only I’d kept that mentailty a little longer in my own life.
Tomorrow I shall remind myself of the miracles I already know are present in my life, and look out for the ones I may not have noticed. Tomorrow I will look for the butterfly on the car door.
